![]() ![]() Thus, I didn't see it as Mary Ann trying to kill herself or kill the kids, but just freaking out and going into super protection mode because she knew what had happened in the past. I mean, a lot of her actions made sense to me after I learned what had happened with her own parents and her previous pregnancy. like where Alyson just jumps to the conclusion Mary-Ann was suicidal (I assumed, if anything, she was planning to kill anyone who came to take her kids), and assumes that an attic built years prior proves that Mary-Ann's condition hadn't deteriorated? I've been thinking about Mary-Ann as a character a bit and I haven't seen much talk about her history with her own family, which is interesting I think. I could talk about this game all day, and never find the words. Meanwhile, I mostly took the story as it was presented, cover-to-cover, like I usually do. It's funny that my rant mentioned how most players seem to fall into two camps, and you each fell into one: Everdred chose Tom's ending because he believed Mary-Ann would never do that, and you chose his ending because you didn't trust the twins (especially Tyler). As Everdred said, the point is to believe what feels most right for each of us. ![]() It makes so much sense that the ending would be about the past, not the future, since the entire game is ying to understand what happened. The epilogue seems to be dictated by the choices made throughout, not the one at the end (which is what I see people clamoring for a lot). Most games like this, LiS1 and 2 included, are so focused on giving you a big, final choice on what happens in the future, but as far as I can tell it has minimal impact on their futures. I think there's some leaps of logic taken in Tom's ending, like where Alyson just jumps to the conclusion Mary-Ann was suicidal (I assumed, if anything, she was planning to kill anyone who came to take her kids), and assumes that an attic built years prior proves that Mary-Ann's condition hadn't deteriorated? But as we can all agree, that's what's so good about the game. Having thought about it though, and watched the video Everdred linked, I am reaffirmed in my belief. ![]() At the time, I even believed Tom's story - I was so afraid it was right, I just wanted to bury it. Replying to GamerAim Honestly I didn't think about it too hard at the time and just went with my gut Yeah I had my mind made up before it even gave me the prompt to choose. ![]()
